St Andrew’s Church has been able to fully repair its south aisle roof thanks to essential funding provided by Valencia Communities Fund. Clergy, parishioners and the local community were delighted with the £50,000 grant which has enabled the 130-year-old roof to be repaired and for important outreach to continue.

The south aisle roof at St Andrew’s was in poor condition and there was increasing water ingress visible in the plaster work. New slates and guttering were required, as well as thermal insulation, which would allow the Church to significantly reduce future energy costs.

Rev Alice Pettit, Vicar of St Andrew’s said: “We are absolutely delighted that our roof is now repaired thanks to the funding received from Valencia Communities Fund. It is vital that the Church interior is watertight to ensure a safe environment for our work and ministry to continue.

It is wonderful to know that our building is now safeguarded for the next anticipated 100 years and that this will enable the Church to continue and expand our offerings to the local community. The inclusion of thermal insulation into our building will also help us to reduce our impact on the environment which, as an ‘eco-Church’, is something very important to us”.

About Us

Valencia Communities Fund is an independent, not-for-profit organisation which provides funding for community, heritage and biodiversity projects around the UK through the Landfill Communities Fund and Scottish Landfill Communities Fund.

Valencia Communities Fund administers Valencia Waste Management's contributions to the Landfill Communities Fund. It is, however, a wholly independent company, separate from Valencia's operations.

We are very grateful Valencia Communities Fund for their grant which will have a positive impact on the local community and our mission and outreach.
