ROOF APPEAL
After 130 years, the South Aisle slate roof over our Lady Chapel came to the end of its life and needed urgent repair in order for our building to remain safe and secure. We began repairs in summer 2023.
The cost of the roof repair work was £140,000. Without grants from the government or the Church of England, we are reliant on the generosity of our Church members and those in the local community for ongoing running costs as well as one-off projects like our roof.

In order to raise the funds we needed we ran a fundraising campaign to encourage donations from within our congregation and from those living in the local area for whom the heritage of St Andrew’s is of great significance. We also applied to trusts and foundations, and held a series of fundraising events.
Our beautiful building facilitates worship and ministry and these repair works ensure that the church interior is watertight for an anticipated 100 years.
Thanking our supporters
We are very grateful to four trusts who have generously given grants towards our roof appeal:
Valencia Communities Fund
Marshall’s Charity
Garfield Weston Foundation
Benefact Trust
We were delighted to receive these grants which will have a positive impact on the local community and our mission and outreach.
